Gwen Drenick, MPH, CHES is the Director of the Community Alliance Network (CAN) for the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence - Orange County (NCADD-OC). Ms. Drenick directs staff and leads collaborative planning activities and educational programs to reduce the prevalence of ATOD-related problems in communities throughout Orange County. Ms. Drenick graduated from California State University, Long Beach with her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics, and earned her Master of Public Health from the University Of California, Los Angeles and is certified as a Health Education Specialist. With CAN since 2001, Ms. Drenick has served as Associate Director and Program Manager for the Tobacco Free Communities project and assumed the position of Director in fall of 2005. She is Co-Chair of the Orange County Tobacco Education Coalition, sits on the Dana Point Charitable Grant Subcommittee and is Chair of the Orange County Methamphetamine Task Force and also serves on the Board of the Southern California Chapter of Society for Public Health Education. Underage Drinking Prevention Project

 

Leila Esfandiari, MPH, is a Health Educator for the Community Alliance Network’s Underage Drinking Prevention Project. Leila is currently overseeing the Underage Drinking Prevention Project in the Cities of Dana Point and Laguna Beach. She received her Bachelor Degree in Environmental Analysis and Design with a minor in Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of California, Irvine and graduated with a Master of Public Health- Health Promotion and Disease Prevention from California State University, Fullerton. Leila is a member of the Health Science Honor Society, Eta Sigma Gamma, American Public Health Association (APHA), and Southern California Society for Public Health Education (SCSOPHE) and the South Orange County Coalition (SOCC). She is a Training Intervention Procedures (TIPS) Certified Trainer for Responsible Beverage Services (RBS) trainings. Leila is also a certified yoga instructor with the National Yoga Institute. Tiffany McCafferty is a Health Educator for the Underage Drinking Program where she is currently focusing on the city of Newport Beach. Tiffany earned her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies, Elementary Education with an emphasis in Child Development from Concordia University in Irvine and is also a Certified TIPS Trainer.  The Underage Drinking Program is focused on increasing knowledge and support for the prevention of alcohol consumption by youth. She also trains merchants on the current laws and how to be a responsible alcohol retailer and stay in compliance with the laws. Heidi Ortiz, MPH, CHES is a Health Educator for the Underage Drinking Prevention Project of Orange County where she is currently focusing her prevention efforts in the City of Anaheim. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Fullerton in Health Science, and graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Master of Public Health degree in Community Health Education and is certified as a Health Education Specialist.  Heidi has had over 7 years of experience providing education and technical assistance to youth, parents and adults in Orange County on prevention strategies to reduce alcohol and other drug consumption. She is also bilingual in both Spanish and English and provides bilingual educational services for the community. Tobacco Prevention Project

 

Tondra Cicali is a Health Educator for the Tobacco Prevention Project. She graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. Tondra is a former teacher who has 16 years experience working with youth in Orange County. She is working to accomplish CAN's goals of encouraging local teens to avoid tobacco use through education and prevention strategies. Tondra is using her background in education and experience with children and adults together with the Tobacco Prevention and Cessation project to create healthier young adults in our local community. Andres Valdovinos is a Health Educator for two projects: the Tobacco Prevention and Cessation program and the Underage Drinking Prevention Program.  He earned his Bachelor's of Arts degree from Dominguez Hills State University in Political Science. Andres began his work in tobacco prevention over four years ago. His passion started as a volunteer spokesperson for the American Heart Association's Advocacy Department. It quickly grew when he began working as a community organizer with the Los Angeles County Public Health Department Tobacco Control and Prevention Program. He is now looking to transfer his knowledge and experience to Orange County where he hopes to make a lasting impact. Drug Free Communities 

 

Marianne Mullen is the Program Coordinator for The Drug Free Communities Program.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Long Beach State University in Health Science.  Marianne has over 20 years experience working in the ATOD prevention field.  She was the owner, author and editor of the ADAM (Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health) Resource Directory for 14 years.  Her current work includes facilitating the South Orange County Coalition (SOCC). This coalition is comprised of community leaders, parents, youth, teachers, religious groups, service organizations, health care workers, business professionals, law enforcement, media and others working together in Dana Point and Laguna Beach. The SOCC is specifically working to address preventing and reducing underage alcohol use and prescription (Rx)/Over-the-Counter (OTC) drug use, misuse and abuse by youth in Dana Point and Laguna Beach.                                      Tobacco Intervention Project Orange County (TIPOC)

 

Jaime Bowley is a Health Educator for the Tobacco Intervention Project Orange County. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology at National University of Columbia. Jaime has ten years of experience working with the Latino community in Orange County as a Health Educator, Community Health Worker and Coordinator for Mental Health and Promotora Programs. He is a member of the working committee of the Promotoras and Community Health Workers Network of Orange County. He is bilingual in both English and Spanish and is a certified Family Planning Health Worker from the California Family Health Council. His current work includes increasing awareness of the health risks of secondhand smoke and the benefits of protecting residents from secondhand smoke, focusing on the cities of Lake Forest, Laguna Hills and San Juan Capistrano.
